I brought Deb home from the hospital late Tuesday afternoon. She's eating solid food (in small quantities) and moving around the apartment slowly but under her own power.

While she was in the hospital I tried to keep her visitor list short, as many of you know. I wouldn't say that she was feeling gregarious yet, but I think she is up to seeing more people now. Please call ahead -- you never know when we might be at a doctor's appointment. If you do visit or call, please don't be offended if Deb suddenly has to take a nap or just zones out of the conversation for a while. Play it by ear.

It's still too soon for Deb to be out and around, so she won't be visiting people, attending church, or going out to movies or restaurants, at least for another week or so.

Naturally, we are both very happy to have her home. Actually, I'm pretty happy to be home myself, because I've been mostly living in other people's houses for the last week. (Thanks to John & Kathy, Sol & Karen, Dawn & David, and Andrew & Cath for meals, beds, and companionship. And thanks to Katy & Dave for smoothing our re-entry into our apartment.) The level of support we've received this week has been awe-inspiring. I got everything I asked for, and I don't think I made it a tenth of the way down the list of the people who offered to help. Everyone has been wonderful.
